am back after five days in kerala. g's bro and sis-in-law and son were visiting from bahrain. we have made it a point to visit kerala together. maybe not a very good idea after all- the two sis-in-law are able to see each other's situation clearly- resulting in a lot of giggling and cribbing. i will not go into the details of the cribs. boring boring. and banal. not very different from every daughter-in-law crib.
but lots of photos on new digital camera- my first touristy camera -my first tryst with digital. so lots of photo posts coming up once i download the photos!
meanwhile, sound pre-mix happening of the film. 2 hours and ten minutes- thats the duration! please dont groan- its about music- and goes through two countries.
paresh came over and cleaned up each cut.turned out to be pretty much the best workshop i could attend.
and the film is titled Jahaji Music .
chitra doing the titles and the inter- titles. yes, i have inter-titles. nervous about this one- trying it out for the first time. always nervous about 'devices'. but the inter-titles emerged as an organic extension while working on the cut. lets see...
yes, am happy with the film. happy that i was able to complete this film, at home, with sanah all over me.
one small detail - sanah thinks dancing is what the jamaicans and trinidadians do- whine and gyrate. The music comes on, she does a delicate, modest circle and then begins rotating her belly and hips! At times she does manage to gyrate right to the floor without falling!! when she hits puberty and other girls her age will discover their bodies in dance, moving delicately and tentatively, sanah might just begin a vigorous shymming down to the floor!!! i guess i must dedicate this film to sanah.
