id mubarak

after stumbling over mubarak all morning, munnu aunty solved the problem by teaching sanah a simple salaam.

many solemn salaams later, after rejecting both the biryani and the seviyaan her nani made, she demanded barfi. her nana assumed she got the word wrong and asked, toffee? her papa asked, coffee? she went to her nani and said, nana or papa ko barfi nahin pata -bolte hain coffee, toffee...and laughed the laugh of the learned one!

ps whats enchanting about doing jai, and salaam??... sanah puts her entire being into it...now her papa has to teach her the cross and we will have our own little amar akbar anthony!

the prayer i mentioned in an earlier post- we now have to say it everday with her! i know the prayer from my learning dancing days- guru brahma, guru vishnu.... its delightful seeing sanah prompt poor george, who follows deligently. guru brahma, when sanah says it, sounds more like guru sharma ... but she loves the rhythm and the chanting quality of the prayer... so we go with the flow...

and whats with the very besura singing of women during navratri? three building complexes at different times, and all had a bhajan being sung to 'tu to thehra pardesi...wada kya nibhayoge...' i am thankful that sanah turned away from this one. but if there is a dhol, we are not allowed to leave...
