celebrating...

the new baby in our fold...she arrives on friday, all of 15 months old, to a very close pal's family.

the family of three, the mom, the father and the 3 and a half year old, are blessed that she is theirs. and she is blessed to have reached this beautiful home.

they spent the day with her today. and ofcourse, i was choked when i heard all about her.god bless mobile phones and their cameras. she is gorgeous.

and like all mothers-to-be, my friend is in a panic. i have forgotten how to hold a little child, she wailed.

why didnt you discourage me - i dont remember anything, she giggled over the phone.

if pregnancy is contagious, and trust me it is, then she is responsible for sanah! when sur when, she would harangue me.stop being wishy washy. either have a baby or be sure you dont want one.she muddled a dithering pair of minds! the next thing you know i called her at 8 am after staring hard at two drops of pee on a damn stick.

she is the one who 'prepared' me for the baby, with detailed lists, dozens of swaddle cloth, two litres of the most fragrant massage oil made by her mum, and parcels that would arrive every month after sanah was born. i have saved all the lists, shall email them right away.

but lists are lists, security blankets for control freaks like us.

you will know in the gut of your stomach how to match your rhythm with hers.

welcome home dear baby.

That was so beautiful sur, true, the first panic rush and insecurity gradually unfolds into a serenity of knowing that no one can understand your own child better than you can.
