of butterflies and peacocks...

a small bit of my clan were visiting from amritsar.

'gregarious punjabis' is an under statement while talking about my mum's side of the family tree.

a gem from the roomful of hysterical stories that they have left behind.

my uncle recounted how he had cracked up going to the annual function of his little daughters who were in kindergarten. on being probed by wife and fellow audience why he was choking with laughter he said "just thinking of how much our children have moved ahead in life. they have been dressed up prettily as butterflies and peacocks, we never went beyond becoming 'murgas' all through our schooling."

and now imagine that being said in punjabi...

arrey baba can not. using the roman script for hindi makes me crazy, punjabi is impossible.
