Old Friends, New Friends

Day one: Two unkown german girls flying back home from Nairobi. They were inseperable on te flight. They knew a smattering of english, she slipped into hindi when they used german words.

Day two: Two german girls whose parents are friends. They did not know a word of english, she know no German. But they all knew the game of running round and round the the table even though it was past their bed time.

Day four: Unkown Turkish girl and Sanah played catch catch with a tiny frail doll while the rest of the crowd sat quietly and watched the band play some beautiful mucis ion the old square at the old town in Prague. When I asked Sanah to come along the little girl took her hand and happily waltzed after her until her parents yanked her back.

Day four: Sophiya and Sanah played on the seesaw along the river for an hour while the child's grandfather and us tried to talk in recognizable words: India, Afghanistan, hindi, farsee, sanah-farsee/arabic, sophiya-farsee/arabic, we asked sanah to come along, the grand father chuckled and said, bahut bahut dur...

As long as you can run around a table, you need no words.
